Every so often you’ll find a leaner style of Zinfandel made in cooler climates, lower in alcohol with lighter body, yet an abundance of red fruits. These styles are extremely rare, but are the most fun if you can find them.
Brennan’s altitude and aspect produces a Zin with medium tannins and high acidity, driving for a fruity flavour profile, with just enough sun and warmth to ripen the fruit. Allowing for a true expression of Zinfandel for the wine purists and a much better representation for pairing with food. More often than not we are likely to reach for a bottle of Zinfandel when wondering what to pair with a meal.
The 2024 vintage provided us with the platform to strike the perfect balance between bold red fruits and elegance. An intriguing nose of baking spice, raspberry coulis and boysenberry crumble followed by a bright notes of currant, cranberry and cinnamon on pallet with a zesty finish.
With only 200 vines in the ground, producing a single barrel at Brennan, each vintage is offered for a limited time and is rarely seen outside of the cellar door.
