Brennan Gibbston Rose 2012


TASTING NOTES

Produced from our estate grown Pinot Noir and Tempranillo grapes, this Rosé shows alpine strawberry and fragrant spring blossoms on the nose with layers of sweet red apple, ripe cherry and watermelon on the palate.  Moderate swetness gives way to crips acididty and a lingering finish of bright raspberry and subtle clove spice.

FOOD MATCHING

This Rosé is fabulous on its own or pair with fresh strawberries, pears and red apples.
Also consider tapas: Stuffed eggs with shrimp, scallops with ham, tuna tartlets, etc.
With a more substantial meal try a walnut & pear salad, cold grilled vegetables or cold cuts which tend to have both the saltiness and spice to enhance the rosé wines’ flavours.

VINEYARD

The Pinot Noir fruit selected was Clone 10/5 from a moderately sloping area of the Brennan Family Vineyards and the Tempranillo comes from a 1/3 Ha sloping block.  

WINEMAKING

The fruit was harvested on May 02 and is comprised of 29% Tempranillo and 71% Pinot Noir.  The juice soaked on skins for three days after which it went through a 35-day cold fermentation.  The temperatures ranged from 11*-16* C.
